Hi all:
My '94 Sub 6.5 td is back home with a rebuilt tranny, new torque converter and rebuilt t-case. Add in the new engine it got last year and I'm well on my way to owning the world's "newest" '94 Sub. Thanks again to those that chimed in with advice and real help with the problem.
I'm about to get a new IP and injectors. I was sure that high-flow units were the only way to go because, well, bigger is better, right? But then I saw this on the Heath Diesel page as a tag line regarding their hi-pop units:
"These HO injectors will add approx 25 hp. These may not be best suited for your towing application as they can cause higher exhaust gas temps under heavy towing conditions."
I tow 24' enclosed race hauler loaded with my car and gear at least once a month, so I have obvious concerns about making the swap to the big squirters based on that warning. ( Very nice to see a business not just thinking about the bottom line and putting this kind of info out there, another solid reason to only by from DP advertisers)
Any thoughts?

Other than noise I have no regrets going to hi pops, as far as extra heat while tow, do you have gauges, and have you done any exhaust or cooling mods

I have the '97 cooling mods and a pyrometer (along with boost and tranny temp). Any additional noise doesn't bug me. Just worried that I may be asking for more trouble than the hi pop units are worth if extra heat is really a problem under heavy load.
Oh, and no exhaust mods yet but am planning on installing a Kennedy exhaust.

watching the EGT gauge and the opened exhaust will keep you out of trouble, I'd say go with hi pops once you open exhaust, which IMO is where you should be your 1st mod (maybe PMD/FSD cooling), stock exhaust is a bottleneck, if it can't flow it won't go, regardless how much stuff you do to the engine in fuel/air delivery, engine has got to breathe to get max gain.

I prefer the High flows. It's hard to put a HP claim on a 6.5 though. I put a chip in one (way more power than injectors) and only saw 16HP at the wheels.
Properly done, a set of HF's will equal or better your mpg...
