Thread: Suburban conversion questions

    Default Suburban conversion questions

Long story short I am putting away childish things of small cars and getting a family sized suburban. But I won't be happy unless I am messing under the hood with whatever I am driving. Currently looking at 90, 95 4x4, and a 95 3/4 ton Suburbans. All 3 are gas 5.7. Which would be the easiest, cheapest to convert to a diesel. I figured 6.2 would be the best diesel motor to switch to but I'm open to suggestions. The overall plan is to switch to diesel and start using bio-diesel. Overall what would be the parts list and price of my conversion. I haven't been able to locate a regular diesel suburban in my price range so I would like to see if a conversion would be affordable. Thanks for any help, and I look forward to joining the elite world of being a diesel truck owner

I said "Yeah". The cop then asked "why"? I said " Because you have a gun, a faster car, a radio, lots of friends with radios, pepper spray and handcuffs". "

really that great. within my budget. So the 90 would be within budget, but what about the 95's? My 94 pickup has the electronic transmission i believe the 4l60e? which I don't think bolts up to the 6.2 or 6.5 and if it did the shift points would be screwed up.... Looks like the 90 suburban is my best pick unless anyone has any more input

The 90 would be the cheapest. Because the electronic transmission controller would cost 800 alone. I got my engine on Craigslist for the build I'm starting after I move.

That video in the other post was my 89 I custom built
