I changed my oil first at 2k with just a good dino oil. Truck now has 4k and want to switch to amsoil. Is this ok? If i do switch, should i only keep the synthetic in for 2 or 3k or is it ok to run up to 5 or 7k?

You can switch to synthetic anytime. If you are going to change at 2k to 3k intervals, though, unless using your truck under severe conditions, you're not really getting the benefits of synthetic oil and would probably be just as well off with dino squeezins.
