I have an '83 Chevy K20 6.2 diesel with a manual trans. Can someone tell me where the ignition switch is located?. I followed the steering column to the floorboard but didn't find the switch. I'm thinking it might be inside the column but I'd like to know before I start disassembling everything. Thanks.. Leon McHugh LMcHugh1@verizon.net

    Welcome to the forum.

It's on top of the column, about 1/2 way to the floor. It is easier to access if you remove the nuts that hold the column at the top, and allow the column to drop down a little.

I did loosen the bolts at the top of the steering column. It allowed the steering column to drop and inch or so. It's still awful tight. I'm afraid to push the column down any further because I might break something. I'll give it a whirl, but I was wondering if anyone had any tips before I get in to this...Thanks..Leon.
