Default Help with my heater core

I need to replace my heater core and i would like to know what is the best way to do so. My mechanic told me that it was a 5 hour job. Any ideas?

    Thanks

Its not pretty thats for sure, but you can handle it.

Drain the cooling system down and disconnect the heater feed lines. The
A/C system if equiped also must be drained of 134. (you should have this done with a recovery unit)

The electrical controls must be unhooked.
The dash must be loosened and and raised up to allow the HVAC box to come out.
There is a lot of wiring the such that sits atop the box too.
    Disconnect the batteries too.
I believe the steering wheel has to come off to the allow the dash to pivot up. (Be careful of the air bag wiring and be sure the batteries are unhooked before you mess with anything)

Once the dash is up and out of the way you can unbolt the HVAC unit and remove it.

Not pretty but you can get it done, just go slow and be careful.

    Good luck
