Thanks for the diagnostic chart! I had cleared the codes after reading them and they have not come up again, been almost 1K miles and all is good. I'm wondering if it was a fluke one-time event, or a preview of upcoming issues. This truck has been very solid and reliable so far, my fingers are crossed that things will remain so. 137,000+ happy miles, I keep telling myself I don't need to upgrade to a new truck. Over and over...

    Siggy,

My EGR was replaced five monthe ago and the code came again last week. A mech in Oregon took it out and a water cooled pipe that conects to it and cleaned the pipe. It was vety cloged. Hope this helps.

I happen to have an 03 LB7 and have had the darn P0404 code for several months now. I've replaced:
    1997254
    and
    94459951

If anyone has anymore words of wisdom, I'd really appreciate it. Could I see that diagnostic chart?

is the EGR supposed to move? This weekend I was looking at it and couldn't budge it...

    anyone?

Have truck in dealer for noise after water pump replacement, belt off sounds goes away we think its the tensioner and are replacing that. Truck also had SES and tech says it has P0404 and P1404 wants to clean or replace the EGR valve. I am wondering if the EGR cooler needs cleaning, truck has 150k miles and usually runs light duty no heavy towing. Also wondering if EGR needs calibration.

It may only need cleaning. Tough call as to whether it's worth the effort or just write the EGR out of the programming....
