Default Whats Up Guys! 94 C2500 Chevy Sub 6.5T! Race Car hauler.

Hey guys Nice to meet you all my names ROb. I just bought a 94 diesel suburban to tow my race car. I choose the suburban over a pickup due to the better security of your items traveling with you and room to sleep inside the vehicle to save money instead of getting hotel rooms. Mainly myself and one other traveling so plenty of room.

This is what she looked like when I picked her up from the dealer.

The truck has 170,000 miles on it and besides the oil pressure sending unit craping out and stopped sending power to the lift pump, the truck runs great..
Its currently stock. I will be installing a forge inter-cooler and boost controller soon as well as a new down-pipe and exhaust. Im going to be relocating the PMD soon as well. Not really looking to make any more power just more reliable for the long trips across country and what not.

Look forward to reading through the forum and contributing where I can.

This is the car I will be towing.

Sounds like you have a good plan. Make sure to toss a spare (good) PMD in the glovebox...

    Thanks guys.

Just did my first real tow with the Truck. Did a 320 mile(there and back) pull from Orlando To Moroso. Truck did an excellent job I was very impressed. Averaged about 12mpg which at 70mph isn't that bad with a load. Only thing that is concerning me is a intermittent engine warning light(gonna pull codes later) and it now all of sudden is leaking oil down the exhaust crossover pipe and passenger side frame rail. Gotta dig into that one as well.

12mpg at 70mph is very good. What were your water temps while towing? Did your fan clutch engage/disengage at all?

I would highly recommend purchase of this guide for anyone with a 6.5 truck. Among other things, it covers how to pull codes and has a list of DTCs.

Jim Bigley, the creator of this site has put together a number of manuals and CDs that will really help you understand your truck better, as well as increase general diesel knowlege.
