Default Alternatives to Hood Pins, suggestions?

I've got Traditional Hood Pins installed on my '82 pickup for the sake of safety as the truck currently does not have the factory GM hood safey, but retains the factory latch/release mechanism.

I'm going to be upgrading to a Cowl Induction Hood in the near future and I'm going to have a hard time drilling holes in a new (not old and hail dented) hood.

I'm curious what other alternatives exist out there, I was thinking of using steel cable as a safety to keep the hood from coming up all the way (or much).

I could possibly just lower the Charge Air Cooler lower in behind the grill, but that would require new brackets, cutting-modifying the plumbing, yada yada yada, and I like where it is (centered).

The reason is just for safety's sake right the normal hood release works fine but the secondary latch is not able to work because of the intercooler? what about moving the secondary latch and fabricating a hook or ring on the underside of the hood rather then having the latch on the hood have it sit on the rad support. If you understand what I mean.

I have the same problem. The hood closes well with no excessive gap but open up ± ½ inch when driving and I don’t like it. The latch/release is set to the minimum.

If the hood pops open when driving cables won’t stop it without severe damage. I hope it never happens.
