    Default Gear oil clarification please

I have done all searches and read more than I care to regarding gear oil.

All I want to know is if I am going to run into trouble running synthetic gear oil in my 1996 2500 Suburban? Just when I think it is safe to log off and not read anything else about the subject.... I find a post saying that it is going to swell my seals and cause problems.

So, any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks

As long as you are using it in the diff (you didn't specify), it's fine. A good idea, IMO. No gear oil anywhere else. The grade can also be significant. 75-90 for up to moderate towing, and 75-140 for heavy and frequent towing in hot climates.

Sorry about that. Yes I am talking about the front and rear diff's. I will do some occasional towing, nothing too heavy. Thanks for the feedback
