    Default Fender Flares

    Hey all

    I am looking for some HUUUUUUUUUGE fender flares that will bolt onto a 92 Burb

    I dont want to cut the body though. Just need to extend the flares to cover some large diggers on my jacked up beast.

    The truck has been lifted about 10-12 inches and has 37" swampers

    Gotta get some coverage on them tires as well as some flaps or the cops are gonna have a fit.

    Any ideas

    Nice looking stuff for sure.
    I am however looking for just a slightly larger flare than stock to cover the front tires a bit more.

    The Bushwackers are close but not quite enough.

    My truck has enough lift that the fenders dont need cutting at all.
    Just need a larger flare.

    Robyn,

    I had to use plastic yard edging to extend out just a hair on a friends truck. It suited the purpose of inspection and was less than $20 all around...

    I have seen that
    We dont have any sort of inspection program here in Oregon Other than the metro area has to meet exhaust emission testing.

    I dont have to worry about any of it.

    The issue is the local town cops tend to watch the tall rigs and will occasionally write tickets for over hieght and no flaps or excessive tire with no coverage.

    The rears are fine and a set of flaps on a bar off the trailer hitch will do great.
    We are allowed 21 inches between the bumper (Lowest point of the body)
    and the ground, any more and the vehicle must have flaps.

    Nice set of "CAT mud flaps will suffice. The front is the issue with the large offset of the tires/wheels and the inherent lack of coverage with the
    GMT400 body.

    I may just install a set of running boards and fashion some extenders to go up the little skirt that anchors the board to the fender and then drop a flap down too.

    My 91 was 20 inches and just legal and the cops were always harassing.
    I always carried a lard stick under the seat for such social ocassions.

    Just want to make it look top shelf and do so in a way that it is functional too.

    I have seen some huge flares but they all seem to be the ones that need to have the fenders cut.

    I dont need more room, the truck will accept 44' tires now with ease.

    Robyn,

    Been thinking along the same lines as you. Only I was going to use aluminum flashing around the inside of the existing flair. Then fill in with two part foam, sand to shape, fill with Bondo, sand, then pop a mold off that to make fiberglass parts.
    Just haven't been able to get my Roundtoit out of the tool box yet. That and where I live they don't allow working on vehicles. . . . .

    Not a bad idea for sure.

    I have pretty much decided to bolt on a set of running boards and then make a custom flare piece for the front of the board where it hangs to the fender.
    I can extend this up and around a portion of the rear facing flange on the exisiting flare.

    The rear wheels are close enough that they will be fine.
    The only issue on the rear is the addition of flaps to cover the tire down to within 12-18" of the ground to be street legal.

    The making of a set of molds is a great plan though.
    Once the foam is finished you can apply a release agent and then lay up fiberglass and finish it.
