    Default 454SS Duramax

Glad I found this site. Lots more swap information than anywhere else. I also joined as a paying member and bought the Duramax Diesel Conversion book. I'm glad it was for a 1989 FSC since it should be similar to my 1990 454SS.

I've had the 454SS since I was 18. It has seen several different BBCs but has been in storage stripped to nothing for 3 years. My wife rolled her 2006 ECSB LBZ last week (wife is fine, truck's sheet metal is not). So I'm way ahead of the game with a complete donor truck and a ready-to-accept transplant truck.

I'm anxiously waiting on the book to arrive in the mail, but I don't have the time to start the project until July.

I'm not a duramax newbie. I daily drove my 2004 LB7 truck at 850 rwhp for a while. It is currently being finished again, this time shooting for over 1200 rwhp on diesel only. Now I daily drive my 2004 LLY dually that laid down 500 rwhp and 1000 ft lbs with only turbo, exhaust, intake, transmission and programming.

Good chassis to start from, you'll only have 2WD though but a good rear end in the back (actually a 14 bolt).

I wanted to do one of these with a 6.5TD, was going to put 6.5TD SS on the side. Never did it.

    Kill the 454!

Welcome aboard! And, thanks for helping to support this site. There's lots of info here from those who have done it. Lil Red, the 1989 shortbox is still a kick to drive - had it out a few times this month after a long winter...
