Personally I'd wait a few thousand miles.

    Thumbs up

    Howdy
When I got my new motor I asked the same question and got mixed answers. The factory claims it would be no problem as long as it was "oil of the proper rating" blah blah blah ect ect.... Anyways I changed the oil at about 1 hr of run time and then again at 2000 miles and then switched to Mobil Delvac at 5000.
Can't hurt and better to error on the side of safety.

Changed mine to synthetic at about 700 miles.

I'm not sure why waiting is necessary - the VW TDI (diesel) cars come factory filled with synthetic. I'd like to see what GM has to say about it.

Waiting IMHO is a matter of economics. I like to drop the oil early and often, and synthetic does not lend itself well to this due to price. If the plan is to run a typical multi-k drain interval, then go for it, but personally I would like to flush out the crap first.
