    Default Disturbing sound

2004.5 LLY 2500HD. 59K miles. I change my fuel filter a few weeks ago. Now I intermittantly get a buz, fast rattle sound from the filter/turbo area of the engine at idle. If the engine is revved, the sound goes away. It only occurs at idle and not constant. It comes and goes; sometimes at stop lights, sometimes when I start it, but never constant.

    Any ideas would be thankful!

First thought is a loose heat shield or metal cased tube rattling against something...

It does sound like a metal on metal rattle. What would in that area that would come loose?

I suppose the first thing I might do is to start pressing on things with a wooden dowel while the engine is idling and the sound is audible, paying close attention to not hit any moving parts (belts, pulleys, etc.). Did you have to push anything out of the way to get the filter out/in?

I realized I never updated this.

The problem was actually a broken clamp on the exhaust.
