I am getting all of 24 mpg. The 700-R4 I have is a SS super heavy duty Monster Transmission. The shifts are ah, crisp to say the least. I think that is a factor in the outstanding fuel milage I get as there is little power bleed off.
I also have it setup to manually lockup using an old school floor mounted dimmer switch so it's hands free, and I can lock it up in all gears but first. The truck weighs nearly 7000# with all the crap I have bolted to it, so I am satisfied with the mileage I get.
Im easy on the throttle, and keep my boot out of the turbo unless im merging onto the highway, and I never run it over 65 mph. It gets better fuel mileage than my 2000 S15 Jimmy with the 4.3 V6. Go figure!
