Default Additive for Diesel fuel in Duramax

According to the dealer I use GM is recommending a new additive they are marketing for the Duramax. It is part number, 88861009, Conditioner, Diesel Fuel 325 ml (11 oz). Has anyone used or know anything about it? I have been using it for about 1000 miles. My fuel mileage did improve, I am now getting 18.9 city and 23 highway unloaded.

Anything anyone can add would be welcome.

    Regards,
    JimO

    up@12,

If it's the Stanadyne you are asking for we stock it is 16 OZ and 1/2 gallons bottles. As far as I know Stanadyne is the ONLY GM approved diesel additive. All of Stanadyne's products are also ULSD formulated and the Performance Formula and Performance JR both contain lubricants for ULSD too!

The additive that I am refering to comes in a GM black plastic bottle. No reference to any manufacturer on the bottle. Just distributed by GM. 11 oz costs $7.35. A bottle is enough to do 2 tanks full.

    Mark,

I use the Stanadyne Performance Formula in the "warmer" weather, but in Northern NH, when it gets down to -20 F, my fuel gels, so during the dead of winter I use Power Service and my fuel never gels. The power service bottle says it contains no alcohol. I know people on this site do not like PS and GM does not have it on there recomended list, so whay an I susposed to use in really really cold weather? As for mixing kero, there is not many places that sell it.

Both Stanadyne & Racor brand fuel treatments have been mentioned by GM as being acceptable (won't void warranties) for their diesel engines. I suspect GM is re-branding one of the two - my guess... Stanadyne Performance Formula.

I've had the best results from FPPF Total Power. With ULSD hitting the streets, additive is becoming even more important than ever...

Haven't seen that, but I found FPPF Fuel Power in a small white bottle. Treats 240 gallons. Know anything about it?
