Has anyone eliminated the Stanadyne Model 80 fuel filter and gone to a different filter system? Or does anyone have solution to leaking problems around fuel heater?

You probably need to replace the o-rings around the fuel heater element and the plugged filter sensor. They pull out and you can get replacement o-rings. Check the 2 small seals in the water drain petcock bore on the bottom of the base and the air purge petcock on the top of the base. You can still get them but are expensive.
I used a FFM off a newer 6.5TD. So far so good.

I took the old stanadyne and trashed it. Replaced with a new 6 micron spin on filter. Works perfectly and I do mean PERFECTLY! So dont hesitate to replace the old stanadyne when yours fails
