Default 1958 Fiat 600 Diesel Conversion

Does anyone have an idea of what motor would be good for this car with such a small engine bay? How would I adapt the motor to the transmission?

    Hi Welcome
I would look for 4cyl Mercedes diesel.
Or any other small rear wheel drive would be the easyest.
Call around the wrecking yards to see what they have, put an add on Craigslist.
    Good Luck

Good advice, Yukon. Lots of 240's around to choose from, and parts are easy to come by. Not much power, but 40-50 MPG is possible in a small chassis. If you get the Mercedes auto tranny with the engine, that would be the best. Simple design, with almost no mileage penalty for the auto. Otherwise, they can be had with a 5 speed. Probably much less painful than adapting to another tranny.
