1999 K2500 Suburban Front Rotor Size

Hey all,

I need to do a full brake job on my truck (including lines). Anyway....

I see brake rotors of 2 sizes, 317mm (12.48") and 330mm (13.1"). Can I use either with stock size calipers? I pretty much only use the truck for towing these days, about 5,000 mi/year. If I can get the bigger ones I think they will probably stop better or at least transfer heat better.

Can someone also confirm torque specs? From memory, I think the axle nut is 177 ft/lbs? The hub bolts in the back I think are 145 ft/lbs?

I think I'm going to go back to using NAPA extreme duty pads. My understanding is that these have a high metallic content and are used on emergency vehicles. I had used them in the past but they tended to be dusty so I stopped using them when I was using the truck as a daily driver, they were soiling my rims. They stopped great, seemed to stop better the hotter they get. Except for the dust, they stopped really well. They did not seem eat the rotors any more than OEM type non-dusty pads.

For rotor size check the RPO code in glovebox. There were a few options.

JB5, JD5, JB6, JD6 are 295mm or 11.57"

JB7, JD7, Z56 and JB8 are 319mm or 12.5"

JF9 are 353mm or 13.86"

Not sure about the caliper, I would call a dealer and have them check part numbers.

Axle Nut Torque is 165 ft lb

Hub assembly bolt torque is 133 ft lb
