    Default Need Heads???

    Hello,

I found a 2001 Duramax that needs heads,Where is the best place to get them? It has 213,000 miles Extended cab 4x4 and I can get it for $5,000.
I have a 6.5 turbo now that I have reworked, heads, exhaust, turbo etc. but would like to upgrade to the DMax.

    Thanks Tom K.

I'm not sure,I have not went to look at the truck,I talked to the guy on the phone,He bought the truck new.He said it was pushing water in the over flow bottle,he took it to the dealer and they torn the motor apart and wanted to install a new engine. He said put the parts back in the truck ,went to another dealer and bought a new truck...had this one towed home,so that's what I know. Are these motors bad about the heads going bad? He said it still ran fine just lost a little water,Is the block known to warp after the heads go bad? I've heard a few people talk about Duramaxs that leak water,Heck my 6.5 has the worst rep. of any diesel and it gets it done just fine and 22mpg at that....might only make 10 hp..LOL but it does the job....May-be they sent the heads off to have them checked? May-be they guessed?May-be you can see the crack???

    Thanks Tom K.
