Default intake side of the duramax

this more than likely has been talked about many times before, so I'll say I'm sorry now I am kinda new here

what do you people think are worthwhile upgrades for the air intake for the LBZ

are these cold air intakes worth the money?

    Filter suggestions?

    thanks for your time

Persoannly, I prefer not to sacrifice filtration for minor gains in airflow. I offer the AFE kits on my site with teh PG7 media, but my 2007 runs the stock air filter. On my 2005 I use the Uni foam filter, but they do not make one for the LBZ.

stock filter on the 2006 is the best GM airfilter ever used , I honestly didnt see or feel any gains from a aftermarket drop in filter kit. Dont think a filter kit or ram air style kit is really going to add measurable power . older trucks filter have made noticable changes but not my tuned LBZ.

Thumbs down Banks Cold Air Intake

I added a Banks cold air intake and while I noticed an improvement on the upper end, it definitely hurt my throttle response. I ran some 0-60 times and they were about the same. With the Banks Ram Air Kit, my truck took off slower (longer time for turbo to spool up), but caught up on the top end. I'm sure the kit incresed my peak HP's and torque, but not were I use them in my daily driving. In this case, more peak power does not always mean faster get up and go power. I plan on putting back on the stock intake with the K&N filter as it suites my driving style better (low end power).
