So, I hope you haven't given up on the mini-vacation. Life's too dang short to let the chance go. Giving any consideration to the train idea?

Good luck, regardless.

5150...

I think there is/was a NUT LOOSE BEHIND THE WHEEL

Dick...

The mini vacation was all paid for (Motels etc)

We were going to be traveling with family.

Time came and went and we lost the opportunity to spend the time with close family.

Not happy.

Very likely one of our crew will not be here in a few months due to health issues.

Just sucks...

Butttttttttttttttttttttttt, as they say, that's life.

Sorry, Robyn. Life's got some wicked twists and turns, not all of them good. Believe me, I've been to the school, and it's a tough one at times.

Having to give up on a potential good time, over some lousy mechanical device, is something that none of us would swallow without some real bitterness.

We'll have good thoughts and wishes for whoever in your crew is facing something, whatever and whoever it is.

Thanks Dick

Yup, just the way it is.

Worst part is the real fast approaching distrust for the Wee car.

WHEN IS IT GOING TO QUIT NEXT ????

We have had a failure of some sort every month since we bought it...
Not a good sign, not even.

As this is our daily GO GET UM driver that we depend on to go just about any place it is worrisome to have so many failures.

My gut tells me that within 3 months this thing will be GONE.

I am not paying the tariff on a rig that I can't trust.

Sitting alongside the slab on a dark, cold and wet night does not appeal to me.

Ugh, well smart cars weren't ever on our list really.

Have a 3 1/2 year old and we need more then they have in the way of space but your description has totally killed any chance.

Sorry to hear it's not working out... As mentioned before I've only heard poor news around those things with a few exceptions.

The 2013 was a sweet little ride with zero issues, not even one complaint.

Good mileage with the local stuff up and down the mountain to town getting 30-34 mpg and 45-50 hwy.

This new beast is doing 23 mpg up and down the mountain and have seen 48 hwy

We do far more local stuff, so the 23 SUCKS.

Just got the critter back and am not 1/2 mile from the dealer when I notice two nasty black greasy hand prints on the WHITE headliner

Sent the service writer a couple pix.

Arrrrrrrrgh.

Next Thursday we take it in for a free interior detail and a Merc C class to drive for a day or so.

Gawd... does this crap ever quit ????

Leave a nasty paw print on someones Merc and all hell will come unwrapped

I suggested that maybe a refresher course in cleanliness was in order ???

Pix of yuckies

The pix don't do justice to how ugly the grease prints are.

The white corduroy with black finger stripes just looks nasty.

I was not even gonna screw with those.

Had it been on the plastic A pillar trim panel I would have wiped it off and been done with it, but not the white fuzzy cloth.

Yup, I'd be equally unimpressed; it's a Benz not a Yugo. Hell, even if it WAS a Yugo I'd be pissed if it was my car.

Had a deer run in front of my Benz a year ago. Brought it to the local CRASH shop (hey, keep it local, right?) and had 'em fix it up. A month later (twice as long as I was quoted for turnaround) I got it back. With a fresh crack in the windshield where they had used a pry tool against the glass to lift a piece of trim. And another piece of trim put back completely wrong. And another piece of trim put on with only 2 of the 10 fasteners. And a fender whose bolts weren't tightened down. And a HVAC outlet that had been broken. I'm sure I'm overlooking a few bits here and there, but suffice it to say I won't be recommending that shop to anyone anymore.

Service. Tough to find it anywhere.

Do you have another MB dealer within 100 miles?

Enjoy riding that C class!

Not that's a Smart shop.

I bought it from them, so they gonna fix it

They offered a complete detail job at no charge with a C class to drive for a day.

Thew car still has issues.

Will give it a week or so and see if anything else pops up.

The next failure will be it's one way ticket outta my yard.

Tired of F'ing with it.

Unhappy

We had a CLK 550 AMG Cabriolet Merc. Fast car but a piece of crap. And they rape you for parts. I had to invest $ thousands in a scan tool to work on it all of the time. Happiest day of our life when I traded in Hitlers revenge. When they worked on it under warranty it was in the shop 26 times. And they put 4 new transmissions in it. Hated that car. It was very fast and handled great, but that was when it would run. ! The only thing it was good at was having electronic and trans issues.

That's not a stellar record for sure.

I told the folks at the Merc shop that this last debacle would be IT, and I was not going to put up with having an unreliable vehicle.

Went out yesterday afternoon and picked up a bunch of parts for the 95 Burb.

I need to replace the ...

Power steering hose
Brake calipers and pads
RH front wheel bearing assembly

Possibly the idler arm

Piddly crap that detracts from reliability.

But I only paid $2000 for it 3 years ago.

I need to get this rig in good order for winter.

If the Smart ends up going away it looks like we are going to snoop out an 09 or 10 Caddy Escalade EXT

Cool story...

Back in about 09 or 10 when I was still trucking I made a delivery to one of my small precast companies (They also sold rock, sand etc separately)

A customer of theirs pulls into the yard with his Caddy EXT and a "TINY WIDDLE trailer" and the yard boys were on lunch so I greeted him and asked if I could help (I was finishing getting the outfit hooked up and ready to go)

The guy wanted some gravel so I called the office and got someone out there.

I took a peek at the lovely Caddy and commented to the fella "Nice truck mac"

The guy goes insane over my comment

Prattling on about his Caddy EXT and all of it's virtues yada yada yada

He finishes his diatribe and stands there staring at me ??????

I smiled at him and replied "Ahhhh, that's what I said... "Nice truck mac"

And off he went again

Some folks need to get a life.

The Caddy is just a GM pickup with a tad more lipstick is all
