Default What trans are you running behind a 6.2?

Im slowly trying to get my k10 to daily drive it to work 40 miles at highway speeds of 70 to 75 mph. Im fearful of over revving it at those speeds and would like a trans with an overdrive. currently it has a Th400 in it. I was looking at monster and a 700r4 with a 1350 stall tq converter.

i know there are other options 4l80? 6l80? I figured I would ask as to what holds up to the torque

Well, the 4L80E is the descendent of the TH400 - and also the automatic behind the 6.5TD models. You’ll need something to control it - it’s electronic.

The 700R4 evolved into the 4L60E and evolved from the TH350. Obviously, the line is lighter duty than the TH400/4L80E line.

I had a 700R4 behind my built turbocharged 6.2L for over 100K miles with no problems, even with heavy towing. Just be sure to get one specifically for a diesel, and get a HD diesel torque converter.
