Default Upgrade Suggestions for 2002 Duramax

Recently I have been considering upgrading my 2002 Duramax/Allison 4x4 to one of the new 2007's. The new ones are great...but after much review it seems to make sense to keep the 2002 as it only has 85,000 miles on it, is paid for and is in good shape. With that said, I'd like some ideas on what to add of the various components (intake, exhaust, electronics or others) that will enhance performance, effeciancy and most importantly help add longevity. At about 65,000 miles I had to replace the injector pump (under warranty) which has been the only change to the truck other than standard maintenance and new tires. I would appreciate any suggestions on what to add, what not to add and any information on preferred maintenance schedules and fluids as the truck ages. I appreciate your thoughts and ideas.

I have been roaming the diesel web sites since 2001,at which point I bought the the 2002 DMAX, you will see many posts of increased HP boasting, then you will come across the the odd post (my truck wont start or quite at a traffic light) , you will most likely find the owner has added an electronic HP increaser, thats fine so long as it a play thing rather than a WORK HORSE. For a reliable WORK HORSE ,

    have the engine oil analized
put synthetics in drivetrain front end, tranny, transfer case, rear end,
keep original air filter (as per testing done on this web site)
    add another inline fuel filter
get a bigger fuel tank (best improvement I have made)
time to change your universals if you tow a lot
    change the antifreeze (5 years)
    add bilestin shocks
    4 new REVOS
you have 200,000 mile warranty on fuel injectors

From all the reading I've done the 2002 DMAX is probably the best buy out there, good fuel milage, lots of torque,

a trade is going to cost 20,000 to $30,000 for that money you can get a suncoast tranny and a new engine any time you want,

    drive safe
    good luck

letsgo has some good advice. I sold a quite a few plug in harness boxes, but naw have gone over to primarily custom tuning. It's not very often we hear of n ECM failing and they are easily swapped so the owner often keeps his stock unit. We can do more on a custom tune and most of this is done without lying to the ECM. It just works better this way...
