I have a 2001 2500HD Duramax with about 41000 miles on it. It has been a very good truck. The truck is at the dealer now for the first problem other than a software upgrade. The code is P0380. Has something to do with the glo plug circuit.
While I was at the dealer I asked trading for a 2005. They gave me what I believe is a very good price. My question is the 05 Duramax better than the 01?

THere has been a significant electrical upgrade in the trucks since 2001, and the engine (LLY) has increased power along with calibration changes that your 2001 doens't have. If you are in the market for a new truck it might not be a bad idea! I would suggest that you get the newer truck... Plus with a warranty virtually no miles.... everyone likes to drive new vehicles... just ussualy don't like to make the payments...

No that would be a great christmas present to yourself

I believe the emmisions have made the LLY a gamble. Some people have all the power in the world, with amazing fuel mileage, and then there's me. Mine overheat and get pathetic mileage. I just got back from Casper, WY. where I delivered 2 trailers and averaged a whopping 6.7 mpg on the way up there. I would trade my 04's for 01's if I could talk my bank into it. I have pulled back to back with them and the old motor will out pull and get better mileage. I think you should hold out for the 06 model.

I to was hesitant about trading in my '01 on an '05......all the talk about EGR, Cat converter etc

Well I have 600 miles on my 2005 and I absolutely LOVE this thing. I am very happy with my decision

I just bought a 2005 2500HD DA/CC and *LOVE* it. If you have a dealer that's "dealing", do it.

We just traded an o2 cc dually in on an 05 4500.Love the LLY, but miss the Juice. This 12000# truck gets the same 10 mpg pulling a 17000# trailer as my 02 did.

I'll find out soon too. Trading my 02 ext cab 4x4 3500 DRW on a new 2005 version of the same.

Just had to replace the NBSU last week (60K miles)... it just couldn't leave me alone for another week! I guess the old truck knew it was on it's way out.

The most disappointing thing is I have to get a new Juice. Anyone looking for an LB7 Juice 4.6.1?

I also have a Juice 4.6 for the LB7 for sale. would like to by oe trade for a juice for the LLY. The extra weight of the 4500 makes the dmax a little sluggish, so the juice should help.
