    Default A little enlightenment needed

Do the 2006 trucks suffer from the same lighting overload problems the 90's trucks did?

IE, light switch overheating, overloade on trailer lights

They're not the same as the older trucks (GMT-400 and before). The trailer lighting power is relayed and independent from the truck lighting. Separate fuses are under the hood.

Getting some of it. A couple inches earlier this week, and more coming tonight for a few days. No drought here. Getting way behind on the weed control!

Ya you probably want to stay on the weed control. These late rains will make for a bad fire season this summer.

No doubt, but I only spray the weeds the 4 legged critters won't eat. Once dry , they'll eat the thistle and nettles. Fire season doesn't change much here, year to year. It's mostly livestock country, and they do most of the work. A little higher up in the timber, and it's a different story (the eco-freaks make sure it's a well-fueled tinder box).

The wiring is not as bad, but far from good. The light switch is no longer an issue due to the use of relays, but the wires are still far too small and give significant voltage drop. I still run my HB kit on my trucks to get full voltage plus the 4 light high beams

"Headlamp Booster" kit. It's a replacement harness for the headlamps, that uses relays, vs. full power from the headlamp switch. It works. I've had one one my 2001 for 10 years. Easy to install, and just plain works. No load on the HL switch, and I've not had to replace it. I've replaced a bunch on many OEM trucks. It also allows simple activation of "all 4 on" for high beam.
