where to buy new water pump backing plate for 84 6.2

Ten years ago (100 k) I replaced the water pump on my 84 6.2. At that time the plate showed some pitting from cavitation corrosion and I was able to fill the pits with enough sealant to reuse it until now. It started leaking again and I just tore it apart and the plate is awful. I can't find a new one at any local parts shop (southern California). I thought about taking the old one to a welder and having the pits filled and the surface made smooth. Before I spent that 100 bucks does anybody know where I can just buy a new one ?
