Default Leaving 6.2/6.5 diesel world - parting out engine

    Hi all,

It has been fun and although I have respect for these engines I am getting out. A switch over to a 2013 LS is in the K5's near future. Over the last 11 years, I put 11500 miles on the 6.2/6.5 engine I built, but have come to realize I can't get the power I want with it reliably. I realized this after blowing a head gasket on my last move while driving freeway speeds up a large hill with the back full of tools and tool boxes.

See specific info on parts for sale here:

    http://sfbay.craigslist.org/eby/pts/5841880018.html

PM, text or call me if you want anything you see or if you have any questions. Also feel free to ask about anything I didn't mention as I may have it.

    Offers will be considered.

    Thanks,
    Kyle

Ok. I will look into shipping all that. The small stuff will be easy. I will have a quote for that today. The heads will be a little more difficult.

Also, about the heads, I am not sure if I had the diamond precups installed before getting them surfaced, so some work maybe required to do that correctly. That may be the reason behind my head gasket issues.

Do you want all the bolts? And the water pump backing plate and water pump pulley? I prefer to keep the pulley in case someone buys the serpentine setup.

Currently, with everything minus the heads and stud girdle kit, ups wants 105. The girdle kit won't change that I just haven't pulled it yet. There were multiple towns with that zip code I chose Lemoyne, let me know if that is wrong.

See pics here for packing details:

Let me know if you want to move forward. I can put it on eBay if you want, so we are both protected or we can just go through PayPal.

If it’s not a problem to throw the bolts in, I’ll take them.

I’ll take the backing plate, but you can hold onto the pulley to go with the serpentine setup.

Not a problem to do PayPal. From the pictures of your packing and that we’ve both been TDP members as long as we have, I’ll trust you if you trust me.

Let me know an estimate on shipping the heads. Those might be better for a local buyer than shipping cross-country.

I’ll PM you my address and contact info. Many thanks!

    Hi Collin,

The compressor has never been hooked up to my AC system and still has the plugs from when I bought it. O pretty much just used it as a idler pulley. I think it is rebuilt, not new. I don't remember where I got it, but I think car quest.

I will be getting things together for you this week. Sorry for the late response. I was out of town for work.

I will send you a pm once I get shipping figured out. It should not be too bad.

If you are switching from a v-belt system to serpentine, I think you need a new water pump and fan. The serpentine spins the other way.

Well, Brown Santa (UPS) just delivered the goodies. Well packaged and just as advertised.

Sorry to be losing Kyle from the 6.2/6.5 world, but greatly appreciate him passing on the parts so that they can help someone else!

No worries Kyle. Drive interstate myself. Not home during the week. I can just paypal you and save on ebay fees if you like. Got the right pump, thanks for the heads up.

Colinr, I sent you a PM. Let's work through that unless you would rather post everything here. I am fine either way.

They recommend putting the fuel pump as close to the tank as possible with a pre filter. My setup is shown in the pics and couldn't get closer to the tank right next to the rear axle bump stop. I used a piece of angle iron to hang it no the frame which I included in the package. The setup worked well. I used the stock '83 fuel/water separator as the prefilter.

Pretty much anything needed to build up a bare block. I've got a line on most stuff. The killers are the crank and rods.
