    Welcome aboard!

The "Duramax" only comes in one size. Huge. Bigger than a big block, and heavier. The "other" Duramax engine is a medium duty 7.8L I6 engine (similar to the DT466, bigger than a Dodge/Cummins), and NOT a likely candidate for a small truck. The Duramax engine you might consider is the 6600, installed in GM light trucks. It's been done in S10's, but it's no minor undertaking. For parts, buy a wreck or a take-out from a wreck, including the entire wire harness, computers and hardware. The Allison tranny won't fit in a standard body height full size truck, so a considerable body lift will be required for the S10 (Duramax equipped trucks have a 2" body lift, OEM).
