    Default Diesel Electric conversion

Has anyone heard of an electric conversion? I remember way back when there was one for VW's with a surplus 90hp motor. What I had in mind was generator and drive motors. Kind of like the new Hybrid diesel comuter busses.

Ive often thought about this myself, or even a diesel over hydraulic setup. I cant imagine it would be that hard to accomplish. You could even rig up a throttle that wouldnt kick in till you needed more juice (passing getting on the highway) I dunna know but I like the idea, I have a 48 f1 I would like to do something like this with.....
