    Default wiring diagram for conversion

    I have an 89 r20 crew cab 2 wd 454 that i am converting to diesel
    Does anybody have a pinout diagram of the bulkhead connector under the booster thanks in advance

    Unless you are planning on using an electronic injection pump there is no need to swap wiring harnesses.

    Use the + lead that connects to the HEI to activate the Injector pump

    Use the same power source fed through the temp switch on the rear of the right hand Cyl head to control the Cold advance/fast idle

    The glow plugs are easily controlled by a Ford Starter relay and a momentary switch on the dash (use 60G plugs) glow for 15-20 seconds cold.

    The alternator wiring is all compatible, just use similar year alternator on the diesel.

    Temp gauge and oil pressure gauge, just use the sending units from the 454

    The tranny should be a TH 400 OR A STICK SHIFT

    If it has a 400 you will need a vacuum control switch to mount on the IP to run the modulator

    The stick requires nothing

    This will likely save you a lot of wiring troubles trying to sort out the harness.
