    Default 6.2d into gm '80's wagon ?

    Hi everyone,
I just discovered this forum !! wow did I miss a lot..
Well I sure think that you can help me with my conversion plan.
I have a 1982 Oldsmobile Custom cruiser with the 5.7 diesel / th200r4 in it. I'm looking to replace that engine with a 6.2d (from the military) in order to get some peace of mind for reliability and some more power...
What does it take to make this conversion ??
Any help will be welcome! as I'm living on the wrong side of the atlantic,... heck , on the wrong side of the pond also !! since I'm in France. You can be sure that here Nobody knows what I'm talking about... so HELP ME !!

    Welcome to the board!

Many automobile based 5.7s were replaced with the 6.2 in the 1980's. The transmission bellhousing bolt pattern is different between the two engines. Other than that, it's a pretty simple swap. The 5.7 uses the "BOP" (Buick, Oldsmobile, Pontiac) transmission bolt pattern. The 6.2/6.5 uses the Chevy/GMC transmission bellhousing bolt pattern.

Thanks Jim, that means that I can reuse the glow plug hardware, and the oil pan fits into the car.
what about the engine mounts, exhaust, and other stuff I might have missed ?
was it a worth while swap ? as far as MPG and power ?
