Default Add a auxiliary input to stock stereo usb or other

Has anyone successfully installed an auxiliary input on their stock stereo system. I have a 01 Silverado and would like a to be able to plug an iPod or smartphone into my stereo.

Which audio system do you have? Does it have cassette? CD? Neither?

OK. Your cassette player is connected with RCA connectors. An RCA to 2.5mm stereo adapter is all you need to connect your iPod/Phone or whatever. "AUX" is the cassette player, as it is wired OEM. Easy, but you'll have to choose between one or the other (cassette or device), or get creative.

Leave it there, in case you find your Van Halen cassettes. Otherwise, the sky's the limit. Gages, switches, buttons, lights, pistol storage (secured, of course).

If you have one of the better factory sound systems with an "aux" button (and no CD changer) you can use a unit from iSimple. The one I have plugs into the aux port on the back of the radio and has a 3.5MM jack that I routed to the storage area low on the dash (2003 Silverado). Plug in the device and push the aux button on the stereo. Mine was less than $75 for the unit and GM specific cable, but you can also get units that do bluetooth and have iPod connectors for more money.

    Thanks for the reply bob

I have a cd and cassette player I believe the aux button runs the cassette player I posted some pics. I'm thinking of using Dmaxs suggestion and disabling the cassette and using it's input to add auxiliary input but since it's been between -15 and 20 degrees outside here in Montana I haven't been to motivated to do it yet.

I'm not sure how the stereo is attached to the cassette if it's a common connector I should not have to remove the stereo. Also not sure how to remove the cassette player yet.

I will probably put cp back in the hole but would be cool to find or make something that would fit into the cp hole.

I will check out the product you mentioned
