    Thumbs up 2004 Duramax 6.6 Liter Diesel Engine Assembly Torque Specifications

    Can anyone help me with this engine main and Rod bearings tightening torque specifications, as well as the cylinder heads torque specifications? I am replacing new piston rings and Rod bearings but I do not have this torquing information.

    Someone may want to spot check this list, copied from my LB7 manual (2002 vintage - things change). Should be correct or close for 2004, but no guarantees.

    thanks for your help, I really appreciate it, one more question, I already have the engine assembled but now I need the intake and exhaust valves calibrations, can anyone help me with this? remember it is a 2004 6.6 LITER Duramax engine.......

    1998 Chevy k-2500 454 147,000 miles and climbing!

    1993 Pontiac G/A Big Block 3.3 Liter 140,000 miles and still going too!

    This was an older thread, but I recently spent time inside a 140K mile Duramax, and saw that the crosshatching on the cylinder walls looked to be untouched by ring wear. The upper portion of the cast iron cylinder walls were induction hardened at the factory. You can see the pattern produced on the cylinder wall surfaces from that process. Now, if the rings have a similar wear resistance, the engine should last... a long, long, long time. I've discussed two trucks here in TheDieselPage.com that each accumulated 750K+ miles without any serious engine work.

    By the way... the intake/exhaust valve lash specifications call for .012" clearance each. Easy to do, just a bit tedious.
