    Default lb7's cp3 leak

lb7 leaking fuel from cp3 i have a 01 lb7 it is leaking fuel from the finned cover that bolts to the front of the cp3. can this be fixed by replacing a gasket? what is behind the cover? will any thing fall or shoot out if i remove the 4 bolts?

also it leaks when i prime it as well as when its running. once its primed it will fire right up and run fine. after 15 -20 ml will go into limp mode if u shut it off for 10-15min fire it up and it resets it self. this is my first repair job to a diesel so its been down for 8-9 months just trying to find the exact source of the leak. now i found it not sure if i should pull the cp3 or just try to pull the cover (fix the leak)? any help will be greatly appreciated

Given the age and likelihood of high miles plus the labor involved with R&R I would be inclined to replace it. We are well under $800 for a fresh Bosch reman.

My gosh, John! A friend from Ontario paid $3500.00+ (Canadian), last Summer for a CP3 change. I don't think I'm going to tell him, next Fall, when I see him back in Texas.

That's not including labor, but even with labor shouldn't be that bad.
