    Question EGR Help

Son has a 2004.5 LLY registered in CA but truck was purchased elsewhere. Check engine light came on. Code reader showed following codes: P0401, P0404, and P1401, all EGR related. Truck has 59K miles and was purchased new in June of 2005. Is the EGR valve still covered under warranty? I think since the truck was not delivered with CA emissions, that EGR valve was only covered by a 5YR /50K miles emission warranty in lieu of the longer CA emission warranty. But wanted to confirm such before he tears into it himself.

Also, will it damage the engine to drive it like it is for a couple of weeks until he can get to it? What about installing an EGR plate in leiu of a new valve?

It will not hurt to drive it as is. Adding a plate will do nothing except stop the flow. To rid yourself of the codes you could put the exhaust back to stock and fix anything else that is altered.

Thx for comment. No changes to the truck. Everything is stock. But I will read your article on the blocker.
