Default 6.2 Turbo Diesel El Camino

Hey all, this site has given me lots of information and inspiration, so I thought I'd give back and share my latest project. It's a 1979 El Camino, and I just finished swapping in a 1991 6.2 Diesel engine (with 6.5 turbocharger system) and 4L80E transmission. Here's a link to my blog summarizing the whole adventure: https://dieselcamino.wordpress.com/

    Smile Nice job

You did a great job fabricating and I really like the result. You built what GM should have built. Years ago I worked with a guy that drove a GMC Sprint with a factory NA 6.2 in it. If I remember correctly it was 1970 or 1971.

Nice ride, keep us posted on how Diesel Camino is performing (mpg, power).

    Default Corretion

When I think about my previous post my coworker's GMC Sprint with the 6.2 could not have been factory. The 6.2 didn't exist in the early 70s. He did have a nice truck with a first class diesel conversion.

Yep, the 6.2 appeared about a decade later - in 1982.
