1994 Diesel Blazer

Cruising through the local CL ads, I came across this:

Again, it's not mine. I wish I had some extra cash, I'd pick it up for myself! I've never seen another 2 door diesel in person.

This one is about 30 minutes from my house.... I may have to go check it out...

I have been thinking about adding one of those to the "fleet". There seem to be alot of 1994 and 1995 MY. I was looking last month and quite a few showed up on craigslist. Several in the NE for some reason, and several of them had over 200,000 miles. That one looks pretty decent.

At least not from the factory...It would be an "easy' conversion to build a 4 door. I agree, I like the two door also.

None delivered in the US. They were produced, but I've only seen them from South America (Brazil). I don't know if they were built here and shipped, or built there.

Have a line on a 1994 GMC Yukon 6.5TD. The pictures of the outside look like it is decent shape and have been told the interior needs a good cleaning. Have to see what the mechanicals and undercarriage look like.

It still seems odd that they’d put the 6.5TD into the 2-door and Suburban models, but not the 4-door models...

IIRC it was likely because the EPA certification costs for that chassis was going to cost more than the bean counters were willing to spend on the narrow market share of the 6.5 option.

The 2 door version would live on as a shadow of the K Blazers popularity with off roader's, sportsmen and such and the diesel version had been fairly popular in the Square body Blazer from 82-91

I always wondered why they even made the TAHOE 4 door?????
These were nearly the same size as a Burb.

I have heard people say "Ohhh, the Burb is just too big" What ????? the Tahoe is very little smaller.

Myself, I would have kept the 2 door as the Tahoe along with the Burb in 1500 and 2500 and never made the Tahoe 4 door.

I see that now the Burb is only available in 1500 series.

Now that was a dumb move, the Burb should be available with the 2500 option and the Dmax

Many folks pull house trailers with Burbs, and a 1500 is not up to the task of handling a big trailer.

Bean counters are at it again me thinks.

Yet they went to the trouble to certify the 2-door 6.5TD Yukon/Tahoe and only made a few hundred of them? I see estimates of 100 to 500 ever made.

Exactly my thoughts. I know quite a few people who tow with a crewcab pickup with a cap who would have preferred a Suburban if it came in 2500 trim.

Actually, the 4 door Tahoes and Yukons are quite a bit shorter than the Suburbans. If you'll look at the rear doors, you'll notice that the wheel wells on the shorter versions cut into the rear doors, whereas on the longer versions, the doors are larger. That, coupled with the shorter overhang behind the rear axle made a more compact, easier to handle vehicle.

4 door Tahoe: wheelbase is 117.5 in and overall length is 199 in

Suburban: wheelbase is 131.5 in and overall length is 219.5 in

I can see the appeal of the 4 doors.
