Default Banks Sidewinder turbo on my 6.2L Hummer?

Well it seems that the idea of adding a 6.5L turbo system is just too much so I've abandon that idea. I was just offered a Banks Sidewinder turbo for the 6.2L diesel.

Will this fit my Hummer, a '93 with the 6.2L diesel..

I am doing other research as well but hoped someone here may know the answers as well..

    thank you

    Steve

The sidewinder won't fit, for the same reasons the 6.5L won't. You'll have to use a 6.5L or Banks turbo van (still some modification), GM Hummer setup, or fab your own. Peninsular has an answer, too ($$).

Banks made a Turbo kit for the H1 Hummer 6.2 or 6.5 N/A engines up till '95 models.

It's very similar to the truck setups, but modified to fit the Hummers.

I have an almost complete kit sitting in storage that I'm not thinking I'll get to using any time soon (No Hummer). It has the coveted TE06H turbocharger with it too.

I think it would work with the 6.2L, but it was made for the 6.5 I believe. I don't know if this still available from Banks at any price, but call and find out.

I might be intersted in moving mine, interested?

    Hi John,

I'd like to hear more about your system. The factory 6.5L turbos were mounted to the rear of the engine. The Banks sidewinder mounts on top / to the side of the engine near the air lift hook. Where does your turbo system mount? Is it a Banks Sidewinder?

I don't know anything about the TEO6H turbo other than a quick WWW search shows it's made in Japan.

Tell me more and of course-how much?

The guy wants $800 for his used Sidewinder locally. I think thats a bit high for a system made in the mid 80's and will still require me a lot of work to get it to fit/work.

On either turbo system, you would probably have to raise the Hummer body 1" off the frame for clearance prior to the new 'additions'. AMG did so, when they went to the Turbo 6.5L engine.

When I spoke with Banks a few years ago - they said "no, it would not work" "we don't make a system for the '93 Hummer" and weren't interested at all in trying to get me a system to make it work - they were actually quite rude.
