    Default Hmmwv

I recently purchased this 1987 HMMWV with a 6.2 L Detroit Diesel. I know two things about Diesel engines, Jack and Squat. So any help will be greatly appreciated.

    Hi
When i got my signature truck i knew little about GM diesels.I was steered to this place.I did a bunch of reading because the motor had been run without coolant.I did the repairs myself after spending weeks reading on here.10 years and 50k miles the truck is running great and i would drive it anywhere.
The 6.2 is a simple design and parts for it are cheap. With a military injection pump you can use pretty much anything oil based for fuel in a pinch, except straight gas.
I will have a 6.2/6.5 till they take my license away.I have scrounged enough replacement parts to last that long as well.
    Wish i had a Hmmwv.
And buy the diesel page books to keep with your truck until you have learned all about it

    Default Thanks

Thanks for the advice. I have been reading a lot. I plan on buying the book soon too. I have recently changed out the glowplugs with an extractor because they were all swollen. I replaced an injector port too. I purchased some new optima red top batteries as well. I'm learning. Slowly but surely.
