    Default Parking Brake Adjustment Problems

I did a complete rear brake job on my 2500 Duramax. I found I had a bad caliper on the drivers side so I changed that after they stuck.

Now I have a problem adjusting the passenger parking brake. I adjust it normally and it keeps tightening up (I thought). Now I find that it's not returning all they way until the hub is rotated forward and back...sort of like it's hanging up after tightened.

I have taken it apart and everything is seems ok and not binding. When I get underneath while my wife pushes on the parking brake it retracts fine. But when she releases it, it comes back within about a 1/4 inch. If I put a screwdriver on it, I can easily pry it all the say back. So I tried putting a little pressure on it when pushed and released and it went back to the normal position and worked fine.

What inside the parking brake makes the leaver (where the parking brake cable attaches) return to it's original position? Is it the spring at the top (opposite side of the brakes)?
