Default High Pressure Washer

I'm looking to replace my broken high pressure washer. My old one was a KARCHER 395 that I bought from a local Costco for not that much.... It lasted nearly 10 years of rare use. The composite head split in the high pressure area...

Any recommendations for a rarely used washer? Thx

For low-performance residential washers, Walmart and Harbor Freight are cheap. Just replace them more often. Power Equipment Direct has a good selection at good prices. If you're partial to Karcker, they carry them, as well as service parts (like pumps). www.powerequipmentdirect.com or www.pressurewashersdirect.com . I've bought a lot of equipment from them over the years (mostly chainsaws and accessories). Excellent service and shipping is fast.

We've shared a Karcher from costco in the extended family for a number of years now. I have no doubt it'll bust eventually but 5-15 years of intermittent use for a few hundred dollars isn't bad.

Intermittent use seems to be a 'go cheap' situation unless it's safety related.

I have rebuild car wash pumps before. Might be an option to repair it if the rest is in good condition. Maybe even an upgrade on the pump.

Back years ago I leased a Landa 4-2000 self contained High pressure hot water washer and when the lease ran out I bought it for $1 (Right before the govmnt stopped these types of buyouts)

Was great for the big rig and major stuff but a tad overkill for the home owner.
Still use it once in a while though for the nasty jobs.

Recently bought one of the Harbor Freight units
Item#62200 or 62214

Depends on the stores stock.. Both the same unit.

I had a 25% off coupon which made it a sweet deal.

We run the hell out it and it seems to be a great unit.

THE ONLY THING I DID was swapped out the cheezy hose for a softer rubber one.

Back about 5 years ago a motorcycle/powersports mechanic (and 6.5 owner) friend stopped by for a visit, and he spied my KARCHER... He then said, "That thing still working? We've gone through several, and finally bought a pro washer to replace them." I said at the time that the KARCHER seemed to work fine for what I needed.

I suppose a pro mechanic would find the defects sooner than a part-timer.

I have had the big Landa 4-2000 since 1992 and done precious little to it all these years.

A few filter or two and a couple oil changes is all.

Been a wonderful machine.

The one I got from the Harbor disappeared to my son in laws a few months ago, so we will see how well it lasts.
