Default '83 K10 Wheel Seal- Part Number?

I'm changing rear brakes and wheel seals on my '83 K10 Suburban. I cannot find the right seal. You pull the axle shaft out and the seal is right there at the end by the wheel.

My old one does not have a legible part number but does have the measurements on it, these measurements do match up to what I measured with a caliper.
    OD: 2.250" ID: 1.633" Width: .315"

All the parts stores list a seal that is 2.5" OD. Even looking through the book by dimension we can't find a seal that will work and is available.

Has anyone ever had this issue and know a good part number? Or atlas shed some light on what I have going on?

    Thanks,
    -Colin

I just went back and took a closer look. There is a second seal inboard of the wheel bearing. I was under the impression that the bearings where lubricated by gear oil but maybe they're supposed to be packed with grease and sealed from the rest of the axle?

However it's supposed to work both axle ends were leaking all over the brakes. Do I need to pull the bearing and replace the inner seal too? Either way, that inner seal would be the same OD as the seal I've already removed.

This picture shows the bearing and inner seal. The outer seal(pictured in the first post) had already been removed in this picture.

Is this a full floater axle, or a semi floater? A semi floater should have one seal, at the end of the axle tube. A full floater has the seal in the inner hub (plus the axle flange gasket).

Semi floating. The axle/hub are held it by the C-clip. Did someone swap the axle on this thing?

It's a 10 bolt cover. Both sides have the same seal/bearing setup. The axles didn't seem excessively worn but either way I'm not sure why a repair bearing would have two seals.
Here's some more pics, maybe someone recognizes something. It's definitely not something I've ran into before.

    Thanks for your help

The OEM axle for the 83 K10 is the GM Corporate 8.5" 10 bolt, so I don't think the axle (type) was swapped. I tossed the 10 bolt axle in my 85 Blazer, and swapped in a 12 bolt (8.875") axle. Got tired of rebuilding/replacing the weak 10 bolt.

If the new parts match the old parts, that must be what must be. I just went out and looked at 2 10-bolts I have here (from my 85 Blazer, one original and one replacement). Neither have anything inboard of the bearing. Only the bearing, and the seal at the end of the tube.

According to Rockauto's catalog, the parts and part numbers are the same for 83 and 85 models, K5 and K10.

Well got it figured out. Turns out whats in there is a "repair bearing". It's a cartridge that moves the bearing farther out and has two seals built in. I'm not sure why it needs to be sealed from the gear oil but that's how it works. I just got two news ones and installed them.

That would fall under the "Undocumented feature" category IIRC

Dat splains it. If it's already been "repaired", and the seal(s) need replacement again, it's probably time for new axles.
