Hi
I have recently started to get some stalling problems with my 96 sub 6.5TD. It has stalled both during idle and running. Sometimes it starts again imedeately, othertimes I have to wait some minutes. This happends once or twice a week, sometimes 3 times in a day and then again after a couple of weeks. The engine lamp is on and the diagnostic code is P-1218 (- Injection Pump Calibration Circuit). I have search the forum and the net and cannot find any good information on this code. Is there anybody out there hwo knows what this code means and what may be wrong. I swapped the PMD five years ago and it is still mounted on the IP. Thanks in advance for any suggestions/help. /Rol

P1218: Quote: The pcm uses a calibrated resister
internally in the injection pump( PMC resister ) to determine fuel rates. the resister value is stored in the pcm memory. If the pcm memory has been disturbed or replaced the pcm will relearn the resister value on the next ign cycle. GM Diag: PCM currently does not have a resister value PCM is unable to read resister value Unquote: Also Blurb about checking the connection at the FSD/PMD

The calibration resistor is located in the PMD/FSD connector socket. If you've disconnected the harness, it may have fallen out. In my experience, you can't easily get the dang thing out when you need to, but if you turn your back on it, it will fall out.
Because the PCM "remembers" the value, and doesn't check for it often, there's no telling when it may have gone missing. They do fail on rare ocasions. It's just a small PC board with holes and a single resistor between two of the holes.

Hi
Thanks for your answers. I have not touch the darn thing, but I will check the wireing just in case. I removed the disesel filter when it stopped first time to check if there where fuel in the filter cup/condition of the filter (Filter was good and the cup filled with diesel). If everything seems to be in place i will have to drive over to nearest chevy garage and claim it repared on the extended warrenty (still has e few miles to go before it runs out) ![]() /Rol
