I began to get noticable idle surge at around 46,000 miles. Diagnosis was fuel pump. Parts are ordered and everything but the pump is in. I've been waiting three weeks ane truck is now over 50,000. Surging will even overcome brake pressure now if I don't have my foot on it pretty good. Biggest problem is that at traffic lights the guy next to me always thinks I want to race!

Question: Will the pump eventually fail completely, and if so what would be the signs of it's impending ? The reason I ask is the truck is my daily work horse and I can live with the idle surge till the new pump shows up, and a breakdown would only be very annoying. End of this month I'm going on vacation, however, and a breakdown on vacation (with wife and seven kids) would be catastrophic! Thanks, Jeff
