Let me introduce myself. I am Denverdale. I have been watching this forum for a month or so and finially subscribed to "The Diesel Page". I have read a lot of good information on the forum. Yesterday I picked up my new 2002 Silverado LS 2500HD 4WD EXT CAB Lt Pewter Metallic/Tan cloth interior with bucket seats and most important, 6.6 Durmax Diesel with the Allison 5 sp transmission. It had 7 miles on it and right now it only has 40 miles on it. Haven't had a chance to take it out and run that first tank of diesel through it. I am sure I will bug you folks to dath with questions in the coming weeks/months.
I will be using the truck to pull my 30' 8500# Travel Trailer, if the forest fires can get unerd control long enough to get out of town. I traded in a 1999 GMC just about like this one except it had the 7.4L/4L80. Not enough power.

denverdale,

welcome to the forum. drive it sorta nice for the first 500 miles, I suggest dropping the oil and filter, then again at 1500 or 2500 miles. after 500 miles, dont't be babying it or beating it, then drive it like ya stole it, just like NUT said.

I followed those guys advice and I have 6500 miles on her now, NO TICK and getting between 17.8 and 19.5 mpg.

Good Luck :D
