The past few weeks I've noticed a real drop in power. Can't move away from a stop sign with any "punch". Then today hitched up the 5th wheel. Pulling up the mountain (in tow-haul) at 55 it would stay downshifted and would run at about 3000 rpm. Engine temp at 220 and tranny at 230-240 (factory guages. Backed off to 40-45 and ran at 2200 rpm, engine at 200 and tranny stayed at 240. Hit a turnout to let some folks pass (I know, they are not supposed to pass a Duramax!) and felt like I had to get out and push to pick up any speed from about 20-25 mph.

This is not the way it pulled up the mountain before! Any suggestions before I take it into the stealer.

I'll second the fuel filter. I've been changing regularly, not noticing any difference, until the last swap. Just didn't feel as strong. Changed the filter, felt like bumping the juice from 3 to 4, particularly at higher RPM's.

Mass air flow readings (filter etc) can cause power to drop off...
