I just filled up for the 1st time (1/2 tank of fuel) & my fuel milage was calculated as 15.47 mpg (243miles/15.7gal). And so far it looks to be the same for the 2nd tank.

As it stands now I am pretty pleased with these numbers. Loads of idle time (in Park) and all driving was in town or heavy rush hr traffic, etc. etc.

My Question: Is this about "normal" or what I should expect from the 1st tank? I am EXTREMLY happy with this, but under the same driving conditions after break in I hope to be in the 16 - 17 mpg range. . . . (yeah I know that is asking a lot, but I can dream) :D

I realize that I need more fuel / milage data, but I was just wondering if this is "typical" for 1st tank milage or not.

Thanx,

That mileage sounds just like what I got for my first couple of tanks. I was getting right around 15mpg doing all in town driving. I am now in the 18-19mpg range on mostly all highway driving with 9,000 miles on the clock. I bet it would be better if I could keep my foot out of it!!

It's because you're an Aggie!

Just yankin'! (Hook'em)

That sounds about right. My first few tanks were around 15 MPG. Several tanks after that (mostly pure in-town stop-n-go) were around 16 MPG. My big trip I just did (around 2300 miles) I got 15.5 MPG on average towing and around 17-19 MPG unloaded. Since my return I am back to right around 15.9-16.2 MPG in-town. I currently have around 5100 miles on it.

From what I have seen here, that is all normal. I expect it to continue to improve over time, noticeably ever 5k miles or so.

My 2003 has about 12,000 miles on it. I am getting 18-19 mpg locally, averaged 11.5 mpg on an 1,800 mile trip pulling a 9,300 lb. travel trailer(Northern Ca and Nv and Eastern Or.) and hit a high of 21.5 mpg on a 150 mile trip where due to traffic couldn't get over 55 mph.

I don't speed.....I don't jack rabbit start....

Probably pretty boring to most but I look at good fuel mileage as a challenge.

I am averaging 16-17 in town, best of 21.5 on freeway. 15000 miles on truck. Megafilter added .5-1.0 mpg and made truck run smoother. smile.gif

Thanks for the feedback. Like I said, I was pretty happy with the milage for the 1st tank, and the feedback lets me know that there is hope out there.

My "goal" is to see 16 - 17 mpg in town/hwy mix & 20+ hwy driving. As time permits, I intent to add a secondary fuel filter & that may help!

Thanx again!
