Santa was good to me. I bought... I mean Santa brought me a nice big Warn winch. But now my question is which battery should I hook it to or does it matter.

I also am wondering when Santa will bring me a winch bumper. Any Ideas there??? has to be able to handle a 12K Warn

Thanks

It won't matter which battery you attached it to, there both connected anyway.

don't know that it matters but to ensure a minimum of voltage drop due to cable length, I connected my 15,000 warn to the front (closest) battery ... has worked well .... Jim

TSimpler,I hooked mine to the red junction block under the hood where it can pull off both batteries.

Drivers side behind the alternator. It's where I got the power for my Kennedy headlight harness. Better than trying to attach to the battery since it's a bolt and nut setup.

I hooked my winch to both batteries one cable to each.

I hooked my 15k warn winch up to the red junction box as well... works great...Have used it many times...

Turbo Al ,wouldnt hooking to the red junction block do the same thing as what you done, drawing from both batteries?

Pullinpower, Yes it is the same. I would personally make up 2 heavy gauge cables to run directly to the batteries to eliminate any voltage drop or resistance. With high amperage draw items the bigger the cable the better. Besides, I would rather not run the risk of cooking those puny wires that the factory calls battery cables.

Thanks IndigoDually I couldn't have explained it better.
Pulling Power the winch is actually on the 1993 so I didn't have that option. When I use the winch it is usally because I am REALLY stuck and I need every bit of juice to get me out, even with seperate feeds the wire still get quite warm & I have melted a single feed before.
