OK all you Duramax owners, I need some quick advice. Can't get a 2004 as its to rich for my blood. Checked out a 2003 1 ton dually, today. It sure is a pretty truck, rides nice is a whole lot quieter than my present 3/4 ton light truck an turning radius was a lot smaller. Asking price is about $38,000, an I think it comes with all the bells an whisles including On-Star, ( something I've been wanting as I ain't as spry as I once was). Under hood is as clean as a baby's tush. I know, not all baby's tush's are clean!Mileage is around 38,000.
So ok, here are my questions:
1- Is the price in the right ballpark?
2- How much weight will it tow, ( Fifth Wheel towing).
3- What kind of mileage am I looking at?
And any other stuff you can think of that will help me in my search.
Many Many Thanks.

new or used? how many miles if used?

what cab configuration?

2 or 4 wheel drive?

punch the info into kbb.com or nada.com with your zip and get the lowdown on it

sounds like too much to me even if its a fully loaded crewcab 4x4

trade-in value of my loaded 03 (see sig) with 36k on it was $25k cash at the gmc dealer 2 months ago if that gives you any idea

Way too much!

At $38K, you are just about in the park for a new, 2004. The new truck will have OEM warranty, which has expired on the used one. Not to mention the financing incentives and rebates.

Don't walk, run away from that one!

Thanks for the coments. This truck is a 4X4 Crew cab, used.
I was told that a new one with all the stuff on this one would be about $48,000. Kind of steep if truth be known. I've been on the Chevy Board where I could desing my own truck an with what I wanted it came in closer to $43,000.
But will check with nada on correct price.

Just checked with kbb.com and nada.com
kbb.com listed truck with everything at $38,120 and nada.com listed it at $35,825. Both of these being the average retail price.
So I guess I'll have to go with this so far. Now, what about weith being towed.

I just bought a 2500 CC SB 4x4 LT with onstar, XM, and some other accessories, tax, license, etc. - for 40,000. Based on that - 38,000 sounds a little steep...

Keep the rebates in mind for new trucks. I believe they are 3-4k right now. I bought my '03 2500 CC 4x4 very well equiped for $35,200.

I just bought a new 4x4 LT LLY crewcab dooley sticker $48.4 for $38,750. If you are looking at spending $38K, now is the time to buy new with the $4K rebate.

Its been one of those days. Went to one dealer in Las Cruses NM that supposedly had 1 ton D/A dually, 2004 on his lot. Didn't happen, though the salesperson knew of it an drove us to 3 other saleslot looking for it, with no luck.
Finally decided to check out new diesel's. Chevrolet is not making anymore 1 ton dually D/A till the 2005 comes out. There are a few 3/4 ton's without dualies an some other things I want.
Could get the 8.1 gas guzzler an thats the saesman words. Actually, he said it doesn't like to pass up any gas stations.
Guess I may have to go with 3/4 ton D/A.
I do like the idea of getting the $4K rebate. I saw on the Chevy board that it was listed as $2500 but the extra $1500 is if you trade in a Chvy truck. And, if I buy used there ain't no incentives.

If you go to GMBUYPOWER.com, you can locate a truck. I would have driven (or flown) anywhere to get one. I found on about 400 miles away equiped with the way I wanted.

I'm pretty sure you don't have to trade to get the $1500. I think you just need to own another GM product.

u may want to try and find someone who can pick up a truck at an auto auction. 2003s are going for $30-33k for that same setup. I'm going to pick one up this week if I can swing it in time. if u want to I can look into something for you. email me at tswartos at hotmail dot com

Tom,

If you are interested, I have an '03 GMC 4x4 crew cab dually SLT I'm selling. It has every option GM offered, XM radio, rear DVD, locking diff etc. Sticker price on this truck was right at $50k. It has 33k miles on it and is set up to tow. I have quite a few extras on it that are negotiable. For just the stock truck I'm asking $33,900. If you are still in NM I could deliver the truck to you, I have to be in TX at the end of the month. I'm selling it because I used to tow a big 5th wheel which I traded for a motorhome. My fiance doesn't like driving the dually so I bought a 3/4 ton shortbox.

E-mail me with your phone number if you're interested and I'll give you a call. jerry@yellowstonetruckstop.com

I have an 04 LLY 2wd extended cab max/allison and 28,000 miles I would sell for $33,000. It does not have leather or onstar, but it is the new higher power motor. My e-mail is rftj@netzero.net
