Yesterday I picked up a cattle feeder and had to go about 30 miles on the highway at low speed to prevent wind damage. I first tried to hold the speed at 40 to 45 with the cruise control engaged. The truck didn't like this at all. I noticed around a 100 RPM fluctuation up and down on a fairly constant basis. I bumped it up to 45 and it did about the same. But when I went up to 50 MPH it was fine.
Is this a shift point or torque converter lock up point? or what was going on? I did have the AC on, but I don't think that made the difference. Anyone have an idea of what causes this, or experience a similar action from their truck?
